Judging Criteria

Judges

Eligible submissions will be evaluated by a panel of judges. Judges may be employees of Uber or external. Judging may take place in one or more rounds with one or more panels of judges, at the discretion of Uber.

Criteria

The judges will score eligible submissions using the following criteria (the “Judging Criteria”):

  • Originality (includes creativity and uniqueness of the idea);
  • Design (Includes the extent to which the application is polished and visually appealing);
  • Effective use of the Uber API (Includes the extent to which the application utilizes the Uber API) and the Celebrating Cities Public Data API Service; and
  • Utility and Impact (includes the uniqueness of the integration and the extent to which the application positively impacts Uber users or new users relative to one or more of the Problem Statements).

Submission Review

Judges are not required to test the application and may choose to judge based solely on the text description, images and video provided in the submission.

Submissions

To be eligible for judging, teams must submit their application no later than 1PM on Sunday and must meet the following criteria:

  1. All code and associated resources must be posted into a publicly-accessible GitHub repository. Use this template to model your repository after.
  2. Your repository must include a README file following the provided template. The key features of the README include:
    • The name and description of your application
    • A screenshot or screencast of your application
    • Details on which challenge you chose
    • Links to the GitHub or social media profiles of your team members
    • List of the datasets and/or APIs that your application uses
  3. You must fill out the submission form to be eligible for judging!

Teams will present in the order in which their submissions are received. From 1-2PM, teams must send one team member to the presentation stage to confirm that you are able to connect to the projector. Test your connection prior to presenting!

The presentations will begin at 2PM, with each team having five minutes to present. Once everyone has presented, the judges will deliberate and award the winning team!
